Dear Poplar Hill Members, Family and Friends,

I’m sure by now most of you are aware of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in our area. We are closely monitoring updates from the CDC and will continue to follow their lead and the guidelines issued by other local, state, and federal agencies (see CDC recommendation below).  We are increasing our level of environmental cleaning and disinfecting protocols to provide a clean and healthy worship space for our guests, members, and children. For now, all worship services will be conducted as scheduled. We will however suspend the Meet and Greet portion of the 11am service.

Preventative Planning

Our church is equipped with liquid hand sanitizer dispensers. We are adding dispensers with disinfectant wipes outside and inside of the sanctuary as well as other areas of the building. We will be disinfecting the sanctuary and common areas prior to and between all services.

Poplar Hill has a plan to address this pandemic, including online worship services, digital communication channels, online giving tools to sustain ministry efforts, and plans for local support and outreach serving efforts as needed in the community.

While the full impact of an outbreak cannot be predicted, planning for operations under such conditions can lessen the impact. The health and safety of our congregation remain a top priority. For future updates regarding coronavirus, be sure to keep a lookout for additional emails and text and voice mails, as well as the Poplar Hill app, and social media postings.

Finally, please join us in prayer for those impacted by this virus, for those serving the sick, and for God’s protection and provision. Most importantly, let us remember our true source of protection…“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1).

Trusting in Christ alone,

Pastor Avery Headd

COVID-19, also known as Coronavirus is spread via droplets produced from coughing and sneezing.  There are multiple strains in humans that can cause mild respiratory symptoms or the common cold.  It is spread with persons in close contact via respiratory droplets produced from coughing and sneezing.  It is possible to spread by touching infected surfaces and touching your nose, eyes, and/or mouth. The incubation period lasts 2-14 days and may include symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath.  It is also possible to spread with no symptoms, but those with symptoms are the most contagious.

  • Cover your mouth and nose with tissue, or turn your head to do so in your sleeve when coughing and sneezing
  • If you are sick, please stay home except to get medical care, and do not use public transportation or taxi
  • Call first before visiting your healthcare provider.  Notify them of your symptoms and follow instructions
